I have recently received a number of emails asking me to explain more about the history behind The Logos – So here goes.

The Logos is an exhilarating blend of intrigue and action. It is fast paced, intelligent, meticulously researched and highly controversial.

The Logos is not just a conspiracy book though. As the book evolves, the reader will find it an intellectually challenging read and some may find it quite complicated. In the author’s mind, it is not complicated, just complex. It builds layer upon layer – leading the reader inside a world that they live in daily but hardly every notice.

This book will make you think and you will learn from reading it. It has everything that should be in a novel. Fantastic research, fantastic story and the opportunity to learn about new subjects while you read.

Below are just some of the topics featured in The Logos:

Astronomy
Archaeology
Archaeoastronomy
Freemasonry – its origins and ceremonies
The rise of ancient civilisations, their technology and their beliefs
Modern Technology – QinetiQ
Science and Physics
Religion – where it comes from and why we have to believe
Mathematics, Geometry and Architecture
Gematria – used to unlock the Bible
Jesus tomb in Kashmir – Rozabal
Bilderberg – The most powerful group of people in the world
The Nephilim – one of the greatest unknown stories in the Bible
The origins of the bible itself and of the stories within it
Stonehenge, Newgrange and many other megalithic sites
Politics, politicians and inside Westminster

Obviously if you are a fan of works such as Dan Browns books, The Logos will instantly appeal to you. However, even if this type of novel does not normally appeal to you, but you do like books that can genuinely expand your mind, The Logos is guaranteed to offer you an intellectually stimulating read.

At 180,000 words + a fair amount of math and illustrations – The Logos is much longer than the average paper back. which is usually around 120,000.

And Finally

The Logos is now available as a printed book or as an electronic download for those who embrace modern technology.

Please see <a href="http://www.the-logos.co.uk/" target=blank">The Logos website for more details

Today I just wanted to say thank you to all those that have been or have now finished reading The Logos and share some of there comments with you.

“Dan Brown move over. Actually, I see more potential here than in the Davinci Code. You have a thriller, with all the threads weaving in and out to create a marvelous story, a page turner with the mysterious suspicion of myths creeping into today.. I really like this. Your character development is very thorough: they’re rich many-faceted. Ilike the Big Brother aspect too with Jenny the inventor and having a relationship with the politican. I cannot think of a single thing that isn’t great.”
“This is fabulous…..Thriller writers are under pressure to keep to pace, even when filling in backdrop….You manage that brilliantly….I found myself racing through this……”

“The booth is empty . . . there was no way he could have got out . . . they couldn’t have lost him!” Well, I guess they could. You haven’t lost me, though, I’m coming back to read more of the thriller. It’s got many different avenues where it can go. When you’re dealing with the Freemasons and the Bildeburg Group, anything can happen and probably will.”

“A very interesting and enthralling read. I love the archaelogical/astronomy connection within the story. Well woven into a really good novel of the top grade.”

“I loved this book! Religious conspiracies, numbers and secret societies are so right up my ally. I can’t claim I followed every little detail concerning the history of everything, but it all made sense and came together nicely. I can tell this work has been a labor of love for you and my compliments here cannot do it justice. I mean, oh my God [;-)] this is an amazing work! I can’t wait until Mark Tolley and The Logos are household words here in the States”

“Interesting content, fantastic premise and a fast-paced, delightful”

“Never having read The Davinci Code because it received such a drubbing by the critics – I came to Logos without any preconceived ideas and so no comparison made! I thought the title interesting and original and that’s what attracted me in the first place. Not disappointed! Logos is a good read, a book that I shall enjoy.”

“This is an exciting and original book whose pitch outlines a great plot. Your characters are well drawn, and come vigorously to life. Jenny is a very attractive, easy to relate to, central character. Adam is an unusual person, sculptor, lecturer, ex-army. Richard, although clearly he won’t be part of the future plot development, is still an interesting and individual person for the short time we know him. All these people have inter-linked relationships, which provoke our interest. Adam’s dreams and his childhood background make him someone we want to read more about. Jenny is also a character whose background helps to make her real. Your settings, particularly in Bath, are beautiful and well described. Your style is clear and flowing, and your dialogue is very natural.”

“A very interesting and enthralling read. I love the archaelogical/astronomy connection within the story. Well woven into a really good novel of the top grade…”

“It’s a complicated premise, and a wonderfully enticing mixture you’re serving up in this novel, packed with incident and freemasonry has a cachet all of its own.”

“Your story, with the promise of glimpses into freemasonry and associated conspiracies, is indeed ‘a potent brew.’ There is still a powerful mystique to contemporary freemasonry, whilst its origins and its extraordinary influence across the world have been the subject both of fiction and non-fiction.
However, I think your premise is undoubtedly original and your story, through the prologue and the narrative on Barabbas to the link with Adam’s nightmare, promised a new perspective in a new voice.”

“Well the brilliant pitch hooked me for a start and on starting to read the first paragraph does its job beautifully, I was surprised to read about an 85 year old man climbing but the writing was brilliant and the end of the paragraph is so sad. It also makes you want to read on as you want to why this is happening.”

Hi again

It has been nearly two weeks since I sent out my original message asking for 50 volunteer readers who would be prepared to read an electronic copy of The Logos and let me have feedback.

I had a really fantastic response and thought people out there may like to know how it’s all going.

I had a total of 66 responses, with 28 of these being people who wanted to read The Logos but did not like the idea of reading electronically.

So that left 38 who were willing to read an electronic copy – its where there were that has surprised me.

Now I live in the South West of England so as such expected emails from UK people, which did indeed make up a fair number of the responses I had.

However, I also had many responses from overseas and now have people reading in Germany, France, America, Canada, Korea, South Africa (including someone in Nairobi University), New Zealand and Australia.

I would like to thank all these people, many of whom have already starting emailing me with their thoughts and other feedback.

While all this has been going on I have also uploaded a copy of The Logos on to the Authonomy website where the first few chapters can be read and have had some outstanding feedback from here as well.

The link to the Authonomy website if you are interested is

The Logos Pictures and Synopsis

So to conclude –if there is anyone out there who would still like to get involved and read an electronic version of The Logos, please let me know as I would love to read the 50 I originally wanted.

You can email me at

Carbon Dioxide or Oxygen – Which is the real issue

A slightly different theme today

This is a question, which I don’t know the answer to but does puzzle me.

Carbon Dioxide is a combination of one carbon atom and 2 oxygen atoms

Now we are all suppose to know that carbon dioxide is a bad thing but I have always wondered if it’s for the reason we are think so.

As we produce carbon dioxide we are effectively bonding oxygen to this compound, ie two parts oxygen to one part carbon, so does that mean that the amount of oxygen we have available as a planet will decrease.

Yes – I understand that plankton and trees breakdown carbon dioxide and release the oxygen but if the level of carbon dioxide keeps increasing, the level of oxygen available to us will keep decreasing. - and both plankton and trees are releasing bonded oxygen, not making new oxygen

And if the amount of plankton decreases, which is the latest worry, will the level of carbon dioxide being broken down decrease – so again will this results in less oxygen available to us

Also we now live in a plastic loving world and many plastics are made up of compounds and many incorporate oxygen into them – effectively locking it away and therefore unavailable to us.

Add to this that fact that the earth is constantly leaking oxygen into space – small amounts but it does happen.

From analysis I have read, scientists have studied oxygen levels trapped in amber and this show the oxygen level on our planet were around 35%, currently it is around 18%, and decreasing – and anything less than 15% causes us humans to have problems breathing

So – is the real issue an increase in carbon dioxide or a decrease in oxygen.

Anyone have any thoughts on this.

I have recently become a member of the Authonomy website and have to say it really does have a fantastic community feel to it and everyone has a really helpful attitude.

I made the cardinal sin of going straight in and posting details about The Logos before I had even introduced. I then had a number of polite messages sent to me suggesting I post a proper introduction to myself and the first few chapters of The Logos so that the people on the forum could read this and give feed back.

I promptly did this and have been overwhelmed by the amount of feedback from the users on the site.

I love the way this site works. Although it’s run by Harper Collins, the whole thing is community driven.

The site members get to read and comment on the books they like and also get to “Back” them by added them to their virtual book shelve. At anytime you can see the most popular books as the site carries a top ten.

So if you writing a book and want feed back from other people, this is a great website and community to get involved in.

One final thing – one of the people that contacted me to read The Logos is currently living in Busan in Korea and has sent me so much useful feedback I just though he deserved a mention. He also did a great publicity shot for me – see below

So Man in Busan, thank you

I would like to thank all those people that emailed me with regards reading The Logos.

I have spent the last few days getting back to everyone with electronic copies and am excited about what will happen next. I have had lots of requests, not only from the UK but from America, South Africa, Australia and a number from mainland Europe.

I have now put the first few chapters on to Authonomy which is a site for authors and part of Harper Collins.

You can view this at

My name is Mark Tolley and I run a number of websites such as The Sophisticated Investor and Smilebigtoday. I have also written and presented a number of property investment seminars as well as writing property investment manuals.

In addition, I have spent a number of years researching and writing my first novel, The Logos and I am now on my second. I have looked at publishing The Logos via conventional publishing routes and will continue to do so but I am also looking at publishing it myself as today’s technology allows an author so much more scope. Amazon now has a fantastic Print-on-Demand capability and is becoming a publisher in their own right.

I am currently looking for a maximum of 50 people who are used to reading books electronically who would be prepared to read The Logos and let me have genuine feedback. I will provide an electronic copy of the book free to those who are interested.

My book is a controversial, complex and fast moving thriller. It covers topics such as Freemasons – Religion – Stonehenge – Archaeoastronomy – QinetiQ – Technology – Fast Cars – Murder – Mystery – Ancient History – Politics

To find out more or read the synopsis, you can visit:

http://www.the-logos.co.uk/

If you would like to know more about me, the author, you can visit my own website at

http://www.marktolley.co.uk/

If this is of no interest to you, again I apologise for interrupting your day.

If however, you are currently thinking about publishing your own book or just want to follow my journey (the outcome is as unknown to me as it is to anyone else) I am documenting the whole process and how I go about it at:

http://journeyofanauthor.ning.com/

This is an interacted forum for authors, would be authors and anyone who has ever fancied writing a book of their own and getting it out to the world.

If you would like to be one of the first to read The Logos you can email me directly at

mark@the-logos.co.uk

If you don’t like reading electronic books, there is a section on the Logos website where you can leave your details and I will let you know when the book goes live on Amazon. I am expecting this to be within the next four weeks or so

I will respond to all emails personally and I am happy to answer any questions you may have.

Regards

Mark Tolley

The Logos Website

Today I have been concentrating on getting my website for The Logos up and running.
I like putting together my own websites as I enjoy the challenge of designing and implementing it all.
If you would like to view The Logos website please click here
